For Frying

  • Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (to help the sugar stick)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add the warm milk, egg, vanilla, and softened butter.
  3. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.

2️⃣ Shape the Donuts

  1. Divide the dough into 10–12 equal pieces.
  2. Roll each piece into a rope about 12 inches (30 cm) long.
  3. Fold the rope in half and twist the two strands together.
  4. Form into a ring and pinch the ends tightly to seal.
  5. Place on a lined tray, cover, and let rise for 30–40 minutes.

3️⃣ Fry the Donuts

  1. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry 2–3 donuts at a time for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Coat the Donuts

  1. Brush the warm donuts lightly with melted butter.
  2. Toss them in the cinnamon sugar until evenly coated.

💡 Tips

  • Make sure the oil stays at 350°F (175°C) for even cooking.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan, as it lowers the oil temperature.
